This quote is from one of my favorite poems, written by JRR Tolkein in Lord of the Rings. As my first tattoo, it is quite important to me and serves as a personal reminder to keep my head above water.

I got this matching tattoo with my mother, step mother, step brother and sister. We all got it on our ring fingers. It is the equality symbol, standing for marriage equality. We got it at Flatiron Tattoo in Boulder, CO.
Mia: Don’t you hate that?
Vincent: What?
Mia: Uncomfortable silences. Why do we feel it’s necessary to yak about bullshit in order to be comfortable?
Vincent: I don’t know. That’s a good question.
Mia: That’s when you know you’ve found somebody special. When you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence.
